“Sailing Association of Marco Island” (SAMI) was founded in September 1969.

The purpose of the Sailing Association of Marco Island shall be to encourage the sport of sailing and promote the science of navigation and seamanship among all who love to sail.

We have monthly meetings, cruises, races, special events and special speakers during the year.  We are happy that you have taken the time to check out our website and hope you decide to join our club.

– JANUARY 19:  SAMI’s 47th Annual Change of Watch will be celebrated on January 19, 2017 at the Marco Island Yacht Club.  Your response & payment must be received by January12, using the form on page 2 of SAMI Sez.  It’s going to be a very festive, traditional event and we hope to see ALL of you there!  Any questions, contact Micki at mickigo@embarqmail.com or 642-4241.
– Monthly SAMI meetings held at the Capri Community Center will occur on the SECOND THURSDAY of the following months (February 9; March 9; May 11; October 12; November 9; December 14) NOT the traditional third Thursday, due to scheduling conflicts with the Center.

You can Drive by Car and join us for lunch.

GCSC Day Sail with Raft-Up Lunch Champney Bay, Naples

All Power Boats and Sail Boats Welcome. 

Sail in Morning then all boats meet at 1:30 for Lunch and socializing together.

All boats will be anchored and tied together to form an Island.

 Walk from boat to boat to socialize and share lunch and drinks.

               GCSC President’s Day Weekend Cruise– Join CM&CS in Ft. Myers. 

clip_image010.jpgFriday, February 17, 2017 – Monday, February 20, 2017 EDISON PARADE OF LIGHTS (EPOL). This is a traditional cruise for CMCS to Ft Myers Legacy Harbor Marina, which is only a few blocks from the historic Edison & Ford Winter Estates and just a short walk to downtown Fort Myers. Cruise leaders will coordinate the reservations with the marina. Festivities begin Friday evening as everyone meets for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres on the dock. Saturday is the “Oyster Fest” at noon (pre-payment and reservations required). Saturday night is a pot luck dinner, followed by the Edison Grand Parade which starts at Ft Myers High School at 7pm and ends downtown. Sunday, all are on their own (there are multiple good restaurants in the area for breakfast)! 

As usual, “Land Cruisers” are most welcome.

Additional Sailing Related Events.

1>    GCSC has a monthly Sailing Events November to April on Lake Avalon in Sugden Park. Included with the BBQ Lunch are Sailing Lessons and an opportunity to sail on the lake with or without an instructor. Sunday’s at Noon.

2>    Educational Sailing Related Seminars 

3>     Affiliated Clubs run “Ladies’ Day” Races. These are race days when all of the boats must have a Woman Captain and Crew. A wonderful opportunity for more women to get out on the water sailing.
